Grades Comes First

TAVAY: Mom my grades will be coming soon, I’m not sure if my math grade is very good.

MOTHER: Why don’t you know? What have you been doing instead?

TAVAY: Nothing i just don’t understand it somethings we learn.

MOTHER: Your job as a student is to ask questions and talk to your teacher about it. If you have a bad grade you will get your phone taken away.

TAVAY: I am mom, but it is kinda hard and I am trying my best to get it up.

MOTHER: Okay Tavay I’m just letting you know what is to be expected of you.

TAVAY: You shouldn’t take my phone

away because I am trying.

MOTHER: I know you are, but you can be doing a lot better and I know the reason why your doing poorly is because your not trying hard enough.

TAVAY. That is not true!

MOTHER: Do not raise your voice at me Tavay. It’s your job to make sure your grades are good. That is reason your in College Track is to help you.

TAVAY: I’m sorry, but I am trying and i want you to know that. I didnt say it was bad, but it is not where it use to be. That is not a reason to take my phone away though.

MOTHER: Well lets see what your grade is then we can talk about this.

TAVAY: That’s is not fair mom, this is my first grade and I am trying really hard and I just don’t get it.

MOTHER; Okay Tavay well talk about this later.

TAVAY: Fine.

( Two days later)

MOTHER: I got your grades.

TAVAY: So what are they?

MOTHER; Well you have all A’s and B’s, but a C in math.

TAVAY: So do i get my phone taken?

MOTHER: No, but I do want to see this improve.

TAVAY: Yes ma’am.
